Best cell phone and service for the middle east

I have a friend who is going to get sent to Iraq, and i hear there are Cell Phones out there that they call "unlocked" that get reception in Iraq. I also heard it depends on the service as well as effectiveness of the phone reception. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks so much.
Cell phone for a teenage girl

I want another cell phone since we have Metro PCS, we are moving to at&t because actually all the Cell Phones from Metro PCS are horrible! And Im sorry but its true, they dont have a variety to choose from. So… What would be a good cell phone for a teenage girl? It could be anything… But not the iPhone because I already have the iPod Touch. Thanks!

What cell phone is best at pulling in a signal?

I’ve noticed that different Cell Phones access signals better or worse than others. My new Verizon Samsung phone doesn’t pull in the signal as good as my old audiovox phone. Since I’m getting ready to dump verizon I’ll be able choose which I want.
