WAP

WAP stands for Wireless Application ProtocolWAP is an open, global specification that empowers mobile users with wireless devices to easily access and interact with information and services instantly.  The WAP standard is based on the Internet standards (HTML, XML and TCP/IP).  There is a WML language specification, a WMLScript specification, and a Wireless Telephony Application Interface (WTAI) specification. WML is a Wireless Markup Language – it is created from HTML, but is based on XML. WML is used to create pages that can be displayed in a WAP browser. Pages in WML are called DECKS. Decks are constructed as a set of CARDS. An example of WML code is below — see how it combines HTML in an XML format.  <?xml version="1.0"?> <wml>   <card id="card1" title="This is WML">     <p>Hello World</p>   </card>   <card id="card2" title="This is WML">     <p>This is how you stack cards</p> </card> </wml>WML Script is used at the client (the cellphone) to validate user input, generate dialog boxes, and perform many other client side services on a WAP browser.  It is very similar to JavaScript used in many web pages today. WTAI is basically a protocol that converts information from a WAP browser into strings that provides instructions for events using the phone – e.g. making a call, looking up a number in the phone directory.

Well I am quite sure that it would not be new for you but your blog s fantastic! I am sure that many guys would have told you before but I thought to let you know myself and boost your confidence.

  • That rss page on your blog here is brilliant, you should tell people about it in your upcoming post. I haven’t noted it a first, now I’m using it each morning to check on any updates. I’m on a really slow dial-up link in Brazil and it’s rather daunting to sit there and wait for such a long time ’til the page loads… but hey, I just found your rss page and added it to the Google Reader and voil? – I’m always up-to-date! Well pal, keep up the good work and make that rss button a little bigger so that other people can enjoy that as well :-P
